Against Medical Advice

The doctor assures me that Monday's surgery will go very well and that recovery, though lengthy and painful, shouldn't have any complications as long as I take it easy, keep my stitches dry, stay away from the sun to prevent scarring and don't risk infection by exposing the incision to the germs in hot tubs or swimming pools.

I'm going to the Bahamas on Friday.

Meh. What do doctors know anyway?

Ah. Right. Well, good luck with it! (is this more on your back?)

But he didn't forbid alcohol did he? Bring on the hot tub booze!

CanadianSwiss said...

Yeah, but how long do you have to stay away from all that?? Usually, it's only the first few days!

I have a tanning salon right? I had a client whose doctor told him to go tanning to speed the healing. He healed very well.

Swim in the ocean - the salt water will be good.

The ocean waters will be quite healing for you, I'd think. Just be careful of the sun on the area of the incision; it will burn much faster than the rest of you. Good luck, and let us know how you are.

he did forget to recommend that you apply a liberal dose of martinis

Arent those two entirely separate issues?

Ugh! good luck.

Is it your back again Jay? I agree that salt water is great for healing! Just keep the sun and sand off the incision.

And have a wonderful vacation!

Yikes! Good luck with the surgery and enjoy your vacation.

Can I put those two sentiments together in once sentence?

No streaking on the beach for you!
Hope you have fun anyway.

You're just pre-tanning.

I have had to c-sections my friend and they do know what they are talking about. Just be careful.. I love hot tubs and whirl pools as much as I love playing around in the pool itself..

Stick to sitting in a chair.

That's what they make organic sunscreen for. Oh...and the salt water is excellent at cleansing. He never said anything about the ocean...so I think you're good to go. :)

I hope it all went well (& that you're lying in the sun right now).

I've never had many operations, the most major one being on my knee after trying to shove my leg up my butt with a murdercycle.

They gave me pain pills but I wanted beer so didn't take any of them, after the first night it wasn't that bad and I took getting the knee back in shape serious and wore out an exercise bike and my butt and got work release in only four weeks, the doctor was really impressed.

While I was doing that I also devised my own back exercises and fixed a bad catch in my back from my race car days and I haven't had a moments problem with it since.

It's nice not having to pay bone crushers to put it back in place, they never did get it fixed anyway, just made it so I could live with it.

I didn't do much of a post today, mostly just some camping pictures.

Oh great One said...

Yeah....Good luck with that!

I think that proper healing requires a little sun, at least that's always been my opinion.

I think that this is cool. SPIRITS PROJECTS

Popping in to see how you're faring. I hope your surgery went well and you've long since recovered.

I had read your earlier post about your friend, but couldn't think of anything not trite to say. Still can't.

I'm wishing you well in all things.
